Break-Out Speakers

Angela Bout
Living Water Reformed Church (URC), Brantford, ON

Image-Bearer

Throughout the whole Bible, God tells women who they are and what they are to do.  As we look into God’s Word, we will see that your life of faith matters very much to your Heavenly Father.  Have you understood your calling?  Have you embraced the beauty of holiness?  Let’s look at how we can stand up, speak up, and be ready for our task at home, in the church, and in our world.

Rev. Rich Bout
Living Water Reformed Church (URC), Brantford, ON

Faith to Follow

Where is God leading you? In what way is God calling you to serve? God called Abraham to go to a place where He would show Him -- but Abraham had no idea where that place was or what hardships or obstacles he might encounter along the way. By faith Abraham trusted God. He followed where God led. What does God expect of you no matter where you go, no matter what you do?

Rev. Brian Cochran
Redeemer Reformation Church (URC), Regina, SK

The Power of Gentleness in an Age of Outrage

We live in an age of outrage and tend to give full vent to our anger on social media. But God's Word calls us to cultivate the character of gentleness. Gentleness is often viewed as weakness, yet the most powerful person who ever lived said, ‘Come to me...and learn from me...for I am gentle and lowly in heart' (Matt. 11:28-30). In this session we’ll learn about the power of Christ-like gentleness in an age of outrage.

Rev. Simon Lievaart
Bethel Reformed Church, Smithers, BC

The Character of Christ in You

How do others describe you? Who do they see when they look at you? Is our Christian character something that truly flows from our heart, or is it merely a front we put on? In this session we will look at God's Word and learn from the ministry of Jesus to see how we can show Christ's character to our neighbours.

Rev. Bill Pols
Cornerstone URC, Edmonton, AB

Building Character One Daily-Devotion at a Time

The Christian life is a struggle. Can you face it empty handed? God is our strength, but How do we access His power day by day? We need character, but what can we do to build that character today? The answer is easy--and hard! Let's learn about it together.

Rev. Kelvin Tiemstra
Faith Reformed Church of Telkwa, BC

Selfless Character in a Selfish World

We live in a 'me first' world where the self has triumphed and selfishness is celebrated. Some people believe that to get ahead in life we have to take a me first approach or get left behind. And to be honest, selfishness comes naturally to us. It's part of our sinful human nature. In this session we are going to look at what the Bible says about selfishness -- in particular we'll look at the selfless example of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Rev. Jason Vander Horst
Surrey Covenant Reformed Church (URC), Surrey, BC

The Character of Biblical Manhood

In a world where gender roles are dictated through songs, social media, and sitcoms, it should not be surprising that young men today are struggling with a distorted picture of what it means to be a man. This distorted picture impacts how men view themselves, how they conduct themselves in relationships, and how they understand their role in Christ's church. Today, more than ever, it's imperative that we recover a proper view of manhood - one that is biblical, honorable, and pleasing to God

Rev. John van Eyk
Trinity United Reformed Church, Lethbridge, AB

Kill or Be Killed

The Great Puritan theologian John Owen said: 'Always be killing sin, or it will be killing you.' There could not be any more stark contrast than that -- nor any more urgent reason for us as Christians to be waging war against indwelling sin! We dare not cease one single day. In this session we will explore the Biblical mandate of putting sin to death in our heart and lives.
